I am thinking of taking on an assistant...I live in London- how much do you think is a fair salary (daily rate)? Also, what happens if the assistant is sick- does anyone know of any agencies where I can get someone for the day?? (I know I can call the parents and cancel for the day but don't really want to do that- not very professional in my eyes).
Any advice would be appreciated.

im guessing your a childminder then? i have an assistant i took her on to help me out a bit but we only increased our numbers to 1 addtional child plus her 2 children so if shes off then her children arent there and i got a varation to say if the assistant is off for holiday leave then as long as it not more than 8 weeks in the year i can have 4 little ones on my own instead of 3. you have to at least pay minimum wage.
