Hi everyone

I'm a tad confused. Got the day off today and came back to an answerphone message from a lady at Ofsted. Spoke to her and she said she made an unannounced visit to me this afternoon but I was out and now she wanted to arrange to see me. She's coming on Friday at 2pm.

What on earth could this be about??? Does it automatically mean I've been reported for something? I know I've not gone over my numbers at all so if someone THINKS I have then that's ok but I just can't think what else it could be? I know I shouldn't be worried as I've not done anything wrong but I'm upset about not knowing and thinking someone must have reported me for something and therefore I'm wondering who would do this

Any thoughts people?

How is it that if someone is making this sort of complaint about you you can't know who it is?

Can you ask at Citizen's Advice whether you have any comeback? I wouldnt trust ofsted to know their arse from their elbow frankly.

dmo · 31/07/2009 20:22

i get really that if we have had an allgetion made against us that we dont know who made the phone call

could be a parent wanting to get back for a notice we have given or a bad payer

feel for you hope tour ok x

danthe4th · 31/07/2009 20:23

That is really awful and i'm disgusted that someone has done this to you. I don't know you but as a cm I want to offer you my support, doesn't mean much I know but we should do something about the way complaints are dealt with, we should be told who made the complaint when it is found to be rubbish and lies we need to be able to answer to this sort off thing. Mud sticks, and people will always wonder and thats wrong.I hope it is all over soon and the parents are supporting you, is it worth asking the parents to come or a meeting with you without the children to see if you can get to the bottom of this. Be brave, stand up to them,we are here to support you. xxx

Katisha Ofsted cant say who called to protect them

crace · 31/07/2009 20:23

LT - what are Ofsteds recommendations going forward? I do think it's grossly unfair you can't find out who "reported" you..

underpaidandoverworked · 31/07/2009 20:28

Get all of your parents to write letters of support and send them to Ofsted. Get other cms you know to do the same. Bombard them with support for you - as you rightly deserve.

I never understand why those that complain have the right to be 'protected' but those who are on the receiving end don't . Load of crap .

dmo · 31/07/2009 20:34

too right underpaidand overworked for LT

do you think it could be one of your parents that has said this or a neighbour??

or the MIL

alibubbles · 01/08/2009 10:22

LT, there for the grace of God go all childminders. Anyone of us could find ourselves in the same position. We are so vulnerable working on our own.

I have a real screamer ( had her for a year, sister for 6) at the moment, the parents know she is like it as she is the same at home, all the time. She is happy to be left with me, and loves coming, but I worry that one of my neighbours will report me as she screams constantly in the garden if I am more than 10 feet away from her - my garden is 200ft long and 100 ft wide, see my problem!

I have helped several people through allegations, and they have all been unfounded. One of the families who reported a colleague had the cheek to ask her to have the child back after the investigations, when the childminder had lost £3000 in income!! It will take a toll on you and your family in many ways.

All I can offer is support, best wishes and that we are all here for you. Take care.

Hi everyone

Sorry for the delay but I was a bit of a wreck last night and couldn't face coming on, can't believe how much this has affected me

Anyway, I'll come back and read the messages in a bit, just need to feed ds2.

In the meantime, I've just put this thread together if anyone fancies helping me]]

Thanks everyone, means a lot xxx

i anm shocked 2 keep your spirits up we r all thinking off u xxx.

Hi, I have been following this thread and I just wanted to make the following point-I recall Looney that you said the ofsted inspector mentioned when you spoke to her about her visit was that she would talk to you about what the issue was when she saw you. This, was of course after you asked if something was wrong.

This part (together with how upset you must be feeling right now) has really got my back up. I think ofsted need to seriously rethink the way they manage these issues. CMers are in such a vunerable position as it is, working alone caring for the most important people in the world for their parents.

You sound like a great CMer by what many have had to say about you and I am heart sorry you are going through this.

Most in the know would correctly sense that something was wrong if ofsted suddenly decide they need to come and see you, particularly as you have been inspected recently. They know that too. They should have shed some light rather than subject you to what must have been a nightmare week for you.

This, I doubt wouldn't happen if you were an employee of a company and a complaint had been made against you. You're a person trying to run a business and clearly work very hard to achieve this.

I am very for you about the way this has been dealt with.

I really hope you manage to resolve this.
