Slovakia is OK as within EU, but as an accession country (2004 joiner) workers are still required to register under the worker registration scheme - even though this schem was supposed to have ceased by now

according to british aupair association aupairs are not classed as workers and therefore dont need to register under the wrs scheme

caterpilarr, I couldn't find a website for british association of aupairs.

There is the British Au Pair Agencies Association, but their advice about visas and travel requirements appears to be out of date and just plain wrong.

I guess in any event they may have a vested interest in positioning themselves and their members as having a special expertise - ie, if they can say that au pairs are not 'workers' that justifies using a specialised agency?

I don't trust the BAPAA website having just read their FAQ section I would say a lot of their responses are focussed on promoting their members rather than giving impartial accurate advice. Also some of the stuff they say is either out of sate or just plain wrong.
