For those of you that have done the NVQ3 - how long did it take? I'm thinking that the best time for me to get it done (if ever!) is when I'm not maternity leave. If I take 9 months maternity leave, how long do you think it might take me if I was really motivated?! Or is it a time frame that I have to stick to? Sorry, don't know much about it at the moment!
Thanks

I am doing NVQ 3 at the moment. I started in December and I am 65% done. I have a serious lack of motivation but am forcing myself to do some every week. You will need to have practical assessments as well where the assessor comes out to watch you do various things with the children and I guess that could be tricky if you are on maternity leave as there is only so much you can demonstrate with your own little baby. I am hoping to get mine done within a year but if I really knuckled down I know could get it done in half that time.

I'm a nanny/mother's help, am volunteering in my free time to cover the aspects of the NVQ3 that I don't cover in my job (two school aged kids). I started in March and handed in three units last week, am hoping to finish by Christmas

Took me 8 months, but took some other people in my group 2 years. If you can get going on it and you are able to demonstrate your abilities to your visiting assessor, which may be tricky with a very small baby, then you might be OK.

Also ... tell your tutor your aim and he/she may be able to help you get ahead?
