Where are you located?
Can you give us any indication of what the special need is - for example, do you need someone trained in Tube Feeding?

There is a specialist childcare agency that does recruitment of special needs nannies, but that does not mean that you can't do it yourself. If recruiting yourself, you need to know what skills/training you need the person to have, specifically any medical related training.

If you are getting funding via Social Services Direct Payments or any other scheme, then talk to the scheme provider with regard to things they require, social services in my area for example require that they [social services] does a CRB check in addition to any already done by my regulatory body (Ofsted).
