i told her last week that we are moving house (80 miles away!) and she was miffed, because (isnt it bloody obvious?) i am stopping taking dd's to her 2 days a week.

i gave her enough notice, still paid her her due holidays, and she just went in the huff. we had a row this morning (i was very tired because ive just come off nightshift) because she told me because i am stopping taking dd's, she has had to cancel her family holiday to spain!

she has made me feel responsible for the whole holiday thing.

she also went on to say her husband has been made redundant. i said i was very sorry to hear that, she just laughed. of course i am sorry, i thought we were friends to be honest.

it IS a shame about the holiday, but what can i do?

i ended up telling her i wont be bringing dd's again. ill just have to work weekends so dh can look after them

how crap is this

That's what makes me think she's really lost it and therefore shouldn't have children with her. Heck CAT me with her details and I'll report her for you

moondog · 03/05/2005 14:23

No. Love talking houses, me!

moondog · 03/05/2005 14:24

That's HunkerPillarOfTheCommunityMunker to you, MD

PS - isn't talking houses a bit materialistic for the lunarcanine one? I thought you'd live in a recycled cave with a yoghurt farm and knit your own muesli plantation?

moondog · 03/05/2005 14:27

Oh,I'm surprisingly materialistic, HM!

Even holidayed in that haven of materialism Dubai, a few months ago!

nailpolish · 03/05/2005 14:27

HM i always magine MD as one of these turkish women sitting by the roadside dressed in black offering little cups of green tea (with a welsh accent)

moondog · 03/05/2005 14:30

Ha ha bloody ha!!!
Today I'm mostly wearing a very fetching Boden ensemble and am sipping Earl Grey and flicking through the Telegraph!!

Mad breastfeeding hairy armpitted dreadlocked weave your own sanitary towel hippy is all an act I tell youse!!!!

hunkermunker · 03/05/2005 14:33

What I love is that I know you're really perfectly coiffed and gorgeous, but you cultivate the lentil-farming sandal-wearing offer the milkman breastmilk and rant about cow's being used for their titties when he refuses image so beautifully. AND (and this is the main thing) - you don't mind me taking the proverbial out of you for it

Will you knit me some muesli?

moondog · 03/05/2005 14:36

Tee hee hm!! Not sure about perfectly coiiffed and gorgeous but...acceptable I suppose.
Oh no, I can take the jokes. Can't dole it out otherwise can I?

I'm up to my eyes in patchwork and quilting (very earthy doncha think) so will one of those do instead of the muesli?

hunkermunker · 03/05/2005 14:36

Ooh, yes, ovely! With a big picture of a boob in the middle - luvverly!

Off out now..."see" you later!

hunkermunker · 03/05/2005 14:37

FFS! ovely?! LOVELY!!

moondog · 03/05/2005 14:38

Ta ra!!! Np, don't worry ok?

Diddle · 03/05/2005 14:59

Nailpolish - i can't believe what your CM has said to you. In England registered childminders have to have permission and certain inspections to be able to look after other peoples children overnight. Plus she should not be offering to take your child anywhere wihtout a child seat it ia illegal. Makes you wonder if she has done it before.
If she is increasing her numbers and going over her ratios i would report her. It might just be worth pointing out what you know as you may not know how many kids she is registered for.
She is taking the piss out of the system and out of childminding, i can understand her being desperate for the money but she's having a laugh. thats not fair on other cm's in the area.
I would wait until you move and do it, write down everyting you can think of. I have reported a nursery i used to work at and they don't keep you informed much. they will do a surprise inspection on her to see what she is upto. can't believe she answers the door in her dressing gown.

ssd · 03/05/2005 17:01

Nailpolish you aren't a bad mother so don't think that! It sounds as if this childminder has been gradually taking advantage of you and your DH and now things are changing she's pissed off because she knows she probably won't get away with it again. Answering the door in her dressing gown! Jesus! Would she go to work in an office/shop etc. in her nightie? That's her taking the P. out of childminding and That's not fair to the parents and the other childminders out there!

Cocotte · 03/05/2005 20:58

Hello Everyone !

I've got a question : a friend of mine put her son occasionely to a childminder. It's her friend and she's not registered. Before putting her DS they agreed on a price 30 pounds per day. Last week, this childminder said she wanted 50 pounds instead of the 30 agreed. What do you think ? Does she have the right of asking for so much money, knowing she's not even registered ?

moondog · 03/05/2005 20:59

£50 a day???? Hello??!
Neither can she renege on an agreement.
Ridiculous!

KatieMac · 03/05/2005 21:07

If she's accepting money for looking after a child in her home and she isn't registered then she is acting illegally.

If she can break the law she won't worry about breaking an agreement

nailpolish · 04/05/2005 07:56

£50 per day is ridiculous. if she wants to look after a child and get paid for it she should make the effort to do it properly ie get registered.

again £50 a day is a ridiculous amount.

Hello All!

Thank you very much for your answers !! And you know what she said to my friend ? She said that some people are ready to pay 10 pounds an hour to have their decoration done in their houses and you ask to these same people to pay for childcare, they don't want to give much ! Also she said that a chilminder who takes less than 50 was obviously not a good quality..it was her own words...I was disguted and I wish I could send Ofsted there...This person is "unemployed" with 2 kids and gets some benefits for that.
