Variation???

Do you think ofsted are likely to grant a variation for 4 under 5's (inc my dd) for one day a week until september when my numbers can be altered to exclude dd. And then in september grant a continuation of care variation, for that same day, as a current mindee is wanting extra days in september?

watching with anticipation as I have same problem, DS starts full time school in September. I'm also thinking of taking on DH as an assistant till then, is that an alternative option for you?

I know you've already submitted it but this is what I would have said if you hadn't.........I've had many variations granted for 4 under 5's of various age groups and always had it granted apart from when not for continuity of care. As for variation in Sept, I'd say that should be fine but then again, you never know with Ofsted!!! Good luck.

As for how long it takes......mine have been from a day-couple of weeks but these are ones that have been pretty urgent so it depends on how urgent you made yours I suppose.

Hope you get it

I'm on the phone with Ofsted at the mo and once you've put your request in it can tak 2-3 weeks. Why is everything so slow???

looneytune · 24/04/2009 14:15

Well I just make it urgent and then nag them saying the parents are nagging me

Whenever I've asked for an existing child to have additional days, or a younger sibling to start with me, they have said yes. I have never asked to take on a new mindee, because I think they are only supposed to grant variations for 'continuity of care'. Sometimes it takes them a couple of days and sometimes a couple of months! You need to keep prodding them and reminding them it is urgent (in the nicest possible way), to keep it on the top of their pile of things to do.
