morning all!

generally a monday feeling all round it seems. i was fine til my children arrived. obstreperous 6 year old, DS screaming as i took him into school, runny nosed toddler and second toddler has conjunctivitis - waiting for mum to collect asap.

roll on tuesday

mumlove · 23/03/2009 13:24

Afternoon.

{{{{hugs}}}} for everyone

My runny nose has hopefully stopped, but now I am coughing!!!
Went to cm drop in this morning and we did kids yoga. Mindee is telling everyone we see about it.

We have the sun here but its very windy!

hennipenni · 23/03/2009 13:55

Very windy here too, been to childminders group today, couldn't let the mindees play outside as was raining so they really played up today.

WWYD? My brain is slowly turning into mush, so I want to start to use it. I am thinking of doing my NVQ3 (with the intention of doing my teacher training in a few years time -I'm a qualified nurse too so that will help me with my entry qualifications I hope), the only problem is that I'm currently looking after two high maintenance 4.5 yr olds, one with ?learning and/or behavioural difficulties and to be quite honest by the time of day that they leave me I'm absolutly shattered (they really are that high maintenance) I also look after a typical 2.5 yr old as well. So I don't have the energy or time to do any of my usual paperwork and have time for my own family either, but on the other hand I'm becoming so brain dead that I really do need to do something. Both these mindees are leaving me in July/August so was thinking that I'll probably leave it until then but then I desperatly want to do someting for myself, because I want to, not because ofsted are dictating that I do it.

Numberfour · 23/03/2009 14:10

hennipenni, have you considered the foundation degree with a view to becoming and early years professional? call you local authority workforce development officer about it - they should be able to give you lots of info. And then you can take it one or two courses at a time. i think NVQ is all at once? could be wrong.

hennipenni · 23/03/2009 14:33

Hi no4, do you have to be NVQ3 qualified to do the foundation degree or will my nursing qualification count towards it?

LoveMyGirls · 23/03/2009 14:40

hi everyone.

I feel so sick, got temp too, must get through the day though......lo's are asleep but i need to leave in a min to start the round of nursery and school pick up's.

coolj · 23/03/2009 16:54

Hi everyone, hope you all get better soon. Weve got a windy/showery day today. I only worked this morning, did 2hrs worth of ironing (still with more to go ).

And dinner is roasting in the oven.

Do CMs realise that everyone has to have Level 3 by 2015.

I cant believe the powers that be are making us do something.

coolj · 23/03/2009 16:54

....... that we have no choice over.

KatyMac · 23/03/2009 17:00

I didn't think that had been confirmed

I thought it was just an aim at this point

leonifay · 23/03/2009 17:47

afternoon mindee told me something today, just spoke to mum about it, she had no idea it was happening now i'm feeling awfull, guilty, stressed, upset, worried on the verge of tears even tho i've done the right thing and have done every thing i can

leonifay · 23/03/2009 17:48

oops, hadnt finnished!

just wondering if this job ever gets any eaiser?

hennipenni · 23/03/2009 19:00

leonifay, don't feel guilty, you acted on the child's best interests, this job is hard enough as it is with out the added guilt.

Numberfour · 23/03/2009 19:45

leonifay, it is hard to work out what is okay and what is not, sometimes. hope it all sorts itself out!

hennipenni, sorry but i cannot offer any info about whether your nursing qualification would go any way towards your foundation degree or if you need level 3 - i think it might the case for the former but not the latter!

give your LA a call. i am sure they could help and give you more info than me. let me know what you decide! i am doing the short pathway eyp (did a law degree early nineties0 and i am hoping to finish by July. not even sure if i will still be childminding after that......
