ok all you seasoned childminders, how do i dsinfect my sandpit? I have a plastic type one so water doesnt drain and I have left it soaking in a bottle of milton and water overnight. This morning there was a few dead little wormy things (eww) but obvously it s still very wet. Am I better just binning the sand and starting again?

I replace the sand in mine at the start of every summer. It is usually full of creep crawlies and once a few dead frogs.

hmm stupid question but how do you dispose of the sand?

I chuck it at the end of the summer and buy new, i do disinfectant it sometimes through the summer, but my sandpit is 4 railway sleepers on a concrete base, so the disinfectant runs out.

My FIL spreads the sand over his grass, good for drainage apparently.

Is there a way to 'recycle' the sand or anything? Is it any good for construction companies or something? That'd be a way to be rid of it I s'pose?

I normally put the old sand in the flower beds

I dig the old sand into my flower beds too (or rather DH does!)
