tonsillitus and work

I am a childminder and about to go to the docs with suspected tonsillitus, as far as I am aware it is contagious. How long should I be telling parents I cant work for?

ok well just for your information, docs has said i was her 5th person with it today (this was at 10.30) but that i should be fine to mind by Wednesday after a couple of days of ab's

I have had a sore throat for about a week - bet thats it then!

Finally had mine out last may as I used to be off for a week or so when I got it... I guess it depends on severity.
Not gonna get it now though

DS had it last week and the docs said it wasn't particularly contagious except before you even know you have it so the damage has probably already been done.

I would rest up until Wednesday anyway. It can be very nasty and although DS doesn't have any symptoms now, he is still not quite right - his appetite is poor and he is tired. I hope you bounce back quickly.

its not really the sore throat that is driving me mad, i feel like my whole head is gonna explode, i ache everywhere and cant sleep as i feel like i cant breathe hope ofsted goes easy on me and says will come next week instead

I am just getting over it, it's not particularly contagious till it's too late anyway so have kept on working ( got it from mindee anyway!)

Felt ok in myself just that felt I was swallowing my tonsils, plus it went into the back of my neck glands and that was pretty sore.
Much better today, day 6 just a sore throat now. Hope you feel much better soon
