Do any other childminders out there absolutely HATE IT when you arrange an initial meeting with a family and they just don't turn up!!! especially when they want to arrange it for 7.30pm on a Friday night, no phone call, text, email - NOTHING!!!

Have tried to contact the mother several times with every means she gave me (mobile number was wrong to start with!) its been a week now (think I've given her long enough now) and still no contact, not even an apology. GRRRRRRRR!

Or is it just me?!

no not just you, it annoys everyone I think, it's as if they just don't value us as professionals that are busy they wouldn't do it to anyone else!

KSquiff · 13/02/2009 22:33

I know! most people don't treat hairdressers appointments etc. like that so why us? Don't they realise the effort we go to to arrange these things? All it takes is a qick phonecall, text or email!

GOD it makes my blood boil!!

Pleased I'm not alone.

Sorry for ranting.

happens all the time unfortunately - sometimes I am surprised when they actually do turn up !

Tabbykat · 14/02/2009 12:38

makes me furious! and am actually currently waiting for someone who already failed to turn up yesterday - says she left a message but no sign of it on my machine. Rearranged for today as she wants care from Monday (!) but no sign and now half an hour late. Think this may be a write-off........just pick up the phone and have the manners to let me know. Grrrrrr!

KSquiff · 16/02/2009 16:08

Tabby it sounds very similar to the one I was waiting for, she was supposed to meet me on a Friday afternoon however she 'apparently' broke down so rearranged for the following Friday evening and just didn't turn up!!! and she was supposedly desperate and needed care from 9th Feb, can't be that desperate!

Really makes me mad!

That's people for you I am afraid! Most folk are inherently good (and polite!) thankfully.

This very same lady who didn't pitch up will probably call you in a couple of weeks (when you have filled the vacancy already...) and be upset you've filled it... has happened to me! haha

Amazing.

This has happened to me today too, most annoyed as had arranged it for when mindees had gone home, I could have taken my own Dc out instead. GRRR. Out of 12 appointments made to see me last year just two turned up.
