Flooded

last week we were snowed in, today my village was totally cut off due to floods. I charged when we were all snowed in (I am literally in the middle of nowhere - heaven in summer - hell in winter) because everyone was affected, but feel awful that parents were unable to get to me even though they could get their other children to school ect. I was literally on an island and wonder if I should charge. I know its not my fault but this has never happened before. One mindee managed to get to me because they live in the next village but the others couldn't reach me. We have even run out of milk today and can't get out.........thank god for the internet!! black coffee's all round with a heafty glug of brandy. p.s. went for a lovely walk to watch the cars being pulled out of the flood waters, amazing this weather.

Tricky one. Strictly speaking you were open for business because someone did manage to get to you, but otoh, if it wasn't for the fact that that child lived so close, you would have had to shut. Therefore, no charge.

Personally, I think I'd waive the fee for today.

RosieGirl, you must live where I do!

I was flooded in today, one child did make it but he was two hours late, the others got to school and I got someone else to collect them and bring them to me (they have a landrover and could get through)

I will be charging, all of my parents are really good about things like that

I don't have that problem as people managed to get to me but I've had a mindee who was picked up 15 mins ago and should have gone at 6pm. She insisted I charged her but I said no, it's not her fault and I'm sure I'll need a favour one day. I just put mindee in a babygro as same size as my ds2 then made a bottle and put her to bed. Your situation is a little difficult, if it was me I'd probably refund or charge half but you WERE open for business so not sure. Nightmare out there isn't it!!
