CRB checks

Hi,

Just wondering if as an employer, can I get a nanny CRB checked? I'm under the impression I can't... help?

Also, is it good idea if I offer to sponsor a percentage (say 50%) of a first aid course if the nanny hasn't already been on the course and been certified?

I'm just getting my job description going for a nanny that we will need.

Thanks,
Rachel

No you can't currently get it done.

Assuming you are in England, you could see if they meet the criteria for Ofsted registration - would get a CRB check as part of that process.

Another option is for the nanny to contact some nanny agencies to see if any of them would be willing to do the check (for a fee of course).

You may find applicants already have a CRB check - as the employer it is up to you if you accept an old check. If it is say within a year, you could choose to accept it.

You could offer to part-pay for training courses, but there isn't really any need to do so is there... nannies who want the work should in my view have their training up to date.

Forgot to post a link to backup my claim that you can't get a CRB check done currently on a nanny that you recruit privately. So here is the link CRB: Applicants
