Ofsted are very efficient in our area, once the application is received in the regional office, the registration visit can be as soon as a few days, record is four days that I am aware of.

Mine took from the January until August

To a certain extent it depends on how "complicated" you are for Ofsted to process. They have to run CRB, social services and health checks on you before your registration can be approved, as well as an inspector visiting you. If you have a lot of previous address the CRB/social services checks can take a while to come back, and if you have a background of medical issues the health check people might need you to see one of their doctors so they can examine you themselves. Ofsted also rely on other groups like social services and your GP actually completing and sending back the forms that need to be completed. There are lots of places where there can be hold-ups.
