I will be increasing my hours from sept to full time. I have 4 children aged 12,7, 6 and 9 months. My youngest is currently in nursery and I am able to pick the 7 and 6 year olds up from school, which I will no longer be able to do from Sept. I am really confused as to what to do about childcare. Would like the children to be together if poss and travelling to various childcare locations kept to a minimum (done lots of different drop offs/pick ups before). Thinking of before/after school club but thats not open during the holidays. Then there is my oldest son to consider. Just feel really confused does anyone out there have any suggestions please!?

Could you afford a nanny?

Sorry that sounded rude. I would love a nanny but can't afford one.

Have you considered a childminder?
they might be willing to do the running around for you.
They might offer discount for the older children to help the purse strings.
They also have access to daycare voucher schemes which your employer might provide saving you money.
Your most expensive time will be holidays with 3/4 full time childcare but you could take your annual holiday in that time to save a few pounds.
hope this helps.
ps accredited minders accept pre-school funding (for future ref)

We have looked into the cost and yes we could with my new job. Think thats on of the few forms of childcare we have not tried!

I would think that a nanny would give you continuity ; sufficient care for the little one and ability to be around for the older ones.
