DS has conjunctivitis- do CMs exclude for this ?

Have lost our CMs exclusion policy. DS has a pink eye with a bit of discharge. Doesn't go to the CM on a Monday, phew. Do CMs normally take children with conjuncitvitis or not ?

Thanks

It depends upon their terms & conditions -sorry

Lizzylou · 11/01/2009 18:30

The two nurseries that DS1 went to did, as did his preschool, sorry.
It is very contagious, but once treated (you can get over the counter stuff) clears up very quickly

Yes, they are excluded, think for 48hrs from start of treatment. Someone will post a link to the Health List thing I expect.
Best to see GP in morning to get it confirmed and for the eye drops. Then call your CM to find out their policy.

erm Nick???

But some childminders will still exclude

Littlefish · 11/01/2009 18:34

My CM does.

Hijack Nick can you help me here

rookiemater · 11/01/2009 18:40

Phew thanks for that list KatyMac. We have a homeopathic remedy so have given him some of that and will book GP appointment in the morning.

Thanks

As long as you understand your childminder may still want to exclude - remember other people may be particularly vulnerable to Conjunctivitis

susiey · 11/01/2009 18:44

my cm doesn't exclude for conjunctuvitus

rookiemater · 11/01/2009 18:48

Just rung, her policy states that should be excluded until no more discharge from the eye. Feel like awful mum first thought when we noticed it was if the CM would still take him as I have recently had an op and lots of time off as a result. DH has said he will take day off on Tuesday if required.
Thanks for the help.

Glad you know - hopefully DS will be fine by Tuesday

I know a child who has had multiple eye ops and she is excluded from school whenever a child has Conjunctivitis - if I childminded her I would have a very robust policy as well

You aren't awful btw - we all have moments like that - mine are when DD vomits s I have to cancel all the other children
