Try to keep this brief and as few details as possible.

I've been looking after mindee for a few months, mindee was 6mths old when he started he has never liked milk or water and never had more than 3-5oz milk at a time and will only havea few sips of water at a time, he's been on 4mth jars and fruit pots and he's now nearly 10mths even though I've written that he seems ready for lumpy food and to feed himself some finger foods but parents are ignoring this and continuing so send either homemade runny food or 4 mth jars. Should I butt out and just feed him what they send or should I have a chat with them about it and hope they don't take offence and give notice?

sounds like they need some advice from an expert. You. I don't think they will give notice, they just need some some direction. Buy them a book on baby development.Or lend them one?

This is their 2nd child and they are both older/ more intelligent than me so I don't want to insult them

Ask them if they mind if you try him on some more solid food.

NB: If they do not move him on and he is ready (as you say), then they are delaying his speech development.

Ok we've had a casual chat and it turns out she was worried about choking because of lack of teeth so they're going to try more lumpy food over the weekend and then write down the food pattern she wants me to follow on monday finers crossed I haven't offended her by suggesting it and also mentioning that by not feeding him at night will result in him being hungrier in the day and more willing to try new foods etc
