I have first interview for potential mindee on Saturday, am very nervous as am a new childminder.

Any tips would be much appreciated.

It is a bit hair raising the first time!

Just be your normal self - don't forget to talk to the child as well as the parent (easy to do if you're trying to impress them!) - don't agree to anything that you don't like just to get a first client on board, in terms of hours and so on. If they ask something that you don't know the answer to / haven't thought about, just be honest and say 'I hadn't thought about it', don't make something up and have it come back and bite you on the bum! Do ask about the child to the parents - you kind of interview them too, just to get a feel of how they think and what they're looking for.

Don't do what I did the first time and be too naive and end up looking after a woman's DS for 3 afternoons for free in the guise of a 'test period' for her never to contact you again, despite the assurances that she definitely wanted you to take her daughter on! Think she just got a few free afternoons out of me so she could have a rest!
