Hi - If anyone has any advice on how to find a nanny - good websites, agencies, how you found yours etc, making sure you're getting someone good and vetted etc, please post!!!

Thanks.

Hi are you looking for a nanny??
Where are you?

good sites are here, netmums, nannyjobs, gumtree, nannynet and familiesonline.
Could tell you some agencies but they might not be anywhere near you as dont know where you are!
hope that helps

First website I'd try is www.nannyjob.co.uk. I would suggest you post a detailed advert and see what interest you get.

If you are in England and you want someone vetted, insist they are already Ofsted Registered. That way they will already have an Enhanced CRB disclosure, plus they should have met Ofsted's requirements for registration. You will need to check their references plus check certificates are still in date (for example, First Aid certificates last for 3 years).

thanks all. poppy, i've submitted a form through the abbeville website. i like that it was free!

it seems that gumtree charges £25 to place an ad?

I think that Tinies covers your area well.

poppy34 · 01/12/2008 18:15

they are v.helpful so far

Gumtree charges for a 'featured' ad, but I put an ad on last month and it was still free for a standard ad.
I found my last nanny via Gumtree...she was advertising and I answered her ad.
