Ofsted Inspection...how much notice?

I'm a newly registered CM and at the moment I only care for a 4 year old from 3pm-5pm one day per week.

So some q's...

Would Ofsted really come for the entire time I mind him?

AT the moment he is just settling with me and his mum wants him to come here to play and relax after being at school all day. How am I going to do my EYFS Obs with this in mind?

ALso how much notice do Ofsted give that they are coming and what happens if you have plans?

TIA

Its all sooo new to me and terryfying!!!

Hello Missymay, I can answer a couple of your question:

Would Ofsted really come for the entire time I mind him?

Usually they would come in the morning and can be there for anything from 3 hours plus. With the old system if you didn't have any minded children present during an inspection you may not get as good an outcome as they like to see you with the mindees, however with this new system I'm not sure how this bit works.

Try to make him as relaxed as possible, take plenty of photos and use these as evidence.ALso how much notice do Ofsted give that they are coming and what happens if you have plans?

This I think must vary from area to area as minders in my area are only given one days notice although they will I beleive re arrange a day if you have arranged to go out. We have a lot of drop in centres that we use that are open virtually everyday so we are always out. We are told that if inspectors don't turn up by a certain o'clock then they aren't coming so we can carry on with our groups as usual, however they always turn up on the first day. Also in our area our names are pulled at random for inspections so it could be one day, one weeek, one month, one year two etc etc between inspections here.

Hope this all helps.
