Hot choc with marshmallows is my favourite!

Have a lovely relaxing day!

coolj · 13/10/2008 08:46

Morning ladies. Ive got a day off today so going to catch up with housework and laundry, go shopping, vet and nursery runs.

Hope you all have a good day.

TheConfusedGhostoooohw · 13/10/2008 08:59

Got all three in today, new baby has settled in well, so it should be a easy day.

KatyMac · 13/10/2008 09:33

Morning minding this am & guess what......paperwork this pm

PinkChick · 13/10/2008 09:55

Morning all..sorry to be 'really' dense but everyone seems to be talking about LOTS of paperwork and im wondering what it is im NOT doing??..i fill in diary's keep my reg and accounts (kind of) up to date and have risk assesments..what 'should' i be doing that you lot are..cos im getting worried now that im not doing half of what i should!?

KatyMac · 13/10/2008 09:57

Well I have lots of filing both cm & household plus I have paperwork to do with employees. & I am always studying so that is more paperwork

Oh & there is the self assessment form - which is taking a fair bit of time to complete

PinkChick · 13/10/2008 10:03

ah, i see..am about to do workshop on self evaluation forms and welfare, but dont have anything to 'work on' right now as cant get on nvq course due to me working till 8pm most nights!...wanted to find out what bits of paperwork ofsted like us to have now????

changingsoon · 13/10/2008 10:26

Morning. feel shattered today. cm conference sat, shopping and course work yesterday. so housework not been done, ironing climbing up walls, fed up.

southernbelle77 · 13/10/2008 13:15

Afternoon! We've had a lovely morning and must have worn all mindees out as all three feel asleep straight away after lunch! So I've been putting together all the things we did and writing diaries and eating lunch!
We fed ducks at the park this morning and collected leaves and made funny leafy hair faces(used photos of mindees and they stuck on the leaves we collected as hair!)

I don't find myself doing much paperwork either PC! I do same as you!

Ooh, hot choc with marshmallows and cream is my fav! And if there is a bit of flake to go in it to, that wouldn't go amiss!!!

PinkChick · 13/10/2008 13:31

thats good then!..just drew myself up a "child observation sheet"..just to jot things down about mindees..each page stands for one month for each child and i write things like "x has just realised that she can kick back to me one of the toys trucks when i roll it near her, at first we thought it was co-incidence/reflex, but she does actually understand by doing this, she is taking part in a game and loves the clapping and cheering i do when she does it"...just trying to show OFSTED that i do these obs if the childrens diaries arent with me when they come next...will keep them all in file and jot down through day 'if' / 'when' they do something ...feel dead good now LOL

hpgoneforgood · 13/10/2008 13:42

Afternoon all, can I just ask what you do if diaries aren't returned? I have got sick of writing on bits of paper only to find at the end of the week that the bits pof paoper are stuck in the bottom of the bag and clearly not read. I have given up doing them.

In a moment I'm going to tackle my risk assessments. My observations are currently in the camera and on a blank piece of paper

southernbelle77 · 13/10/2008 13:43

Good for you PC! Most of my obs aren't that detailed, but try and do a more detailed one every so often! I have obs books from BCMA which I think are good!

I need to make sure my risk assessments are better I think. Was it on here that someone had done check lits (Katy maybe)? I thought I had it but now I can't find it on the pc!

SammyK · 13/10/2008 13:45

PC your NVQ - when I started mine I was also working until 8pm most evenings, and explained this to the head of school, she siad it would be fine, as they were only support workshops, and I could always call my tutor for support. Doou think if you made the same phone call thye could help?

I am thinking of ditching daily diaries. Need somethng else just as good if not better though and can't decide what. I am considering a file of photos, art work, obs, etc. What does everyon else do?

southernbelle77 · 13/10/2008 13:47

If parents don't bring books then I don't write anything. Like you, I got fed up of writing on bits of paper! I mention at home time that the book wasn't in there and could they remember it next time!

PinkChick · 13/10/2008 13:50

Hi Sammy, i said that each time theyve asked and each time they said NO!..theyll have to give in soon tho as ill need it as std wont i!?

With reg to diaries, what i do if i constantly dont get them back, is print out a form that just say Pink Chicks Chldminding Diary Sheet...i date it put chlids name on and send that homne..again prob doesnt get read but saves me buying books every week or so and if you have spare sheets in your files when they visit, you can explain them and show your obs book.sheets as well!??

Didnt know ncma did obs book...may look into that as an official one may look better to them??

PinkChick · 13/10/2008 13:51

Also reg working with parents i send out newsletter with updated policies and request (along with sheet!) for reference showing and things i can improve on anything i do well etc, way back in july...have i got even 1 back!!!!1..Nope!

KatyMac · 13/10/2008 15:02

I give them to the parent at home time & stand over them as they sign & say - you will read it when you get home won't you with a big smile

SammyK · 13/10/2008 18:26

Oh I get them back (it's rare they don't bring them), and they are always disappointed as they say they enjoy reading them.

I just feel they are a bit dry, and want to shake things up a bit, think obeservations, and part wrk etc would fit better in an A4 file of some kind rather than an A5 notebook. Also feel I am writing a lot of mundane stuff too. Parent could glance at them on pick up, and whenever they have time, and have them to keep when full or mindee leaves.

KM - I like it!

This has made me feel quite lucky - parents always have brought back questionaires and references for me.
