Going rate for babysitting?

I'm in Tyne & wear and I've been asked to babysit for a friend and usually I would do it for free, but I think it's going to be a regular thing and she asked me to find out the going rate.

So how much should I charge an hour?

Try looking on local job listings sites in your area, see if that helps identify what babysitters locally charge. Ad Sites such as Gumtree and VivaStreet for example.
Also try looking on babysitter introduction agency sites, such as FindASitter.

I would suspect £5-£6 per hour would be about average in the North East area. Where I am in the South, £8-£12 per hour is more typical.
