i do not use a childminder myself but there is one that i see alot of. she is not a friend but someone i talk to. she has been worrying me for a while and wondered wot others think. She has two babies that she looks after as well as other kids and this one cries all the time. I held him once and he calmed down. My problem is i alwaysa see her in town or supermarket she expects these one year olds to sit in a buggy all morning and then when he cries she is really horrible about him. I have heard her say she cant stand him and she has said to me he is horrible. Makes me want to grab him and run, i feel so sorry for him. I wish i knew the mum, cus i am genuinely concerned about him. I do know that some children do cry all the time i have had one like that myslef, but she seems very mean to him. Wot do you lot think i should or could do?

Speak to the mum. If that was mine I would want to know.

i have no way of finding out, none that i can think of anyway. I have seen her do other dodgy things too, letting kids sit on other kids laps in the car stuff that worries me. I really want to help, but feel bit helpless. He is so little but i know he is a year old and i know my little lad likes to run around and cant bear being strapped down for too long. The ways she speaks to him worries me too. i would hate to think of my child being like that. Oh yeah few years back i saw this lady in a supermarket during a school day with three very sick looking kids who hadnt been well enough for school but she took them to shops to do her food shop. Madness

Is this childminder registered!!?

I don't know of any reg cm who would mind sick kids.

I would call Ofsted with your concerns, I assume you know her name, they can then look into if she is registered, if she is over her numbers, etc.

Where do you see her? School, playgroups? Can you make some discreet enquiries??

If you can't find out who the mum is then I would call ofsted about your concerns. There is no way I would treat any kids like that, let alone mindees! She shouldn't be doing her shopping while looking after the kids, she should be looking after them and entertaining them. Letting them run around and have fun!

Kids on kids laps in the car?

Police, so they can catch her at it and you need to find out who the children's mother's are.
