I have ADHD - so ideally want someone to take care of my baby while I wfh and also fix lunch and do dinner and general tidyup in the evening ( i can take care of the baby whiel they do the dinner and tidyup)

But wondering if a nanny does this ? What are the general duties of a nanny ?
Thanks 🙂

I never had a nanny but I'll take a guess based on my friend who was a live out nanny. Taking care of childrens needs and activities. Supervising traing children in putting toys away. Childrens meals only and cleaning up after the meal. Not any housework. Whatever you decide you want have it in a written contract.

It's outside of the remit of what most nannies will want to do, but you can definitely find a nanny that will cover this. You may need to advertise for a nanny-housekeeper to get the person you're looking for. You will likely need to pay at the higher end as it won't be a hugely appealing role. What hours are you expecting them to work? It sounds like it could be a long day.

We have a nanny/housekeeper. My kids are primary school age, so her day typically consists of:

  • Get breakfast ready for kids
  • Pack school bags
  • Make sure kids eat, get dressed, clean teeth, brush hair etc

Once kids are out the house:

  • Tidy up from breakfast
  • Unload/load dishwasher
  • Change bedding (once a week)
  • Do laundry (kids, not ours)
  • Clean house (light-ish cleaning as we get the house deep cleaned every month or so)
  • Prepare lunchboxes for following day
  • Prepare uniforms, swimming bags, football kits etc for following day

When kids come home from school around 3pm:

  • Make snacks
  • Play with my youngest (older two will occupy themselves)
  • Make dinner for kids
  • Occasionally, if we're running late from work, get the youngest in the bath
