30 hours funded petition?

Does anyone know if there is a petition about the funding for the "free" 30 hours childcare?

Another local charity run pre-school in my area has just announced they are closing because they can't break even since the additional government funding came in. Pre-schools and Childminders aren't allowed to charge top up fees, where as nurseries are for some reason.

The pre-school I use is close to collapse but not there yet, and a LOT of fundraising going on right now to try and keep them afloat.

My childminder regularly says how she doesn't earn what she used to with the funding as it is paid less per hour than she charges.

If there is a petition to help increase the amount from the government, or to change the way the "free funding" is delivered I would like to sign it.

Please let me know? I've googled but can't find anything x

I’m not aware of a petition, but you could start one? You’d probably get a lot of support.

As PP says, the rules on top up fees are the same for nurseries, it’s just they’re often ignored. The gov has tried to tighten up the rules, but I think a lot of parents are happy to pay them because they need the childcare to stay open.

It's just so so sad to see lovely pre-schools that have been open for years having to shut down.

I'll look into how to start a petition 👍

Gosh only allowed 80 characters to title the petition!

Does this make sense?

Review amount paid to childcare providers as it’s too low and causing closures.

??

My youngest attends a pre-school and they charge extra for the lunch hour, lunch and snacks.
