What happens with funded childcare hours when childminder is sick?

I wondered what happens with funded childcare hours when childminder is sick? She has been sick for the last 2 days and l think she might be on Monday. We only do 3 days a week (3 days x 10 hours and we are entitled to 30 hours) so there is no money to refund, it is all funded childcare hours.

Ask your childminder what her policy is (when she is better). If you're term time only she will probably offer the hours back in the holidays.

For short illnesses, our LA let's us (I'm a CM) keep the funding. Not everyone has the capacity to offer at another time.

Local preschool has just been closed for the first week back as they had a wayer leak. They won't be opening through half term to compensate.

I’d be surprised if a child minder would offer you the hours back to use elsewhere, it’s typically just lost time.

It’s dependent on the rules stipulated by the childminder’s LA. In my area, we have to offer those hours back however, if I chose to offer them during the holidays, because a child is only with me purely for funded hours, then it’s a time of my choosing. As long as I offer the hours then that’s my responsibility. For children who also do extra paid hours I use the funding owed to cover some of their extra hours.

I’m the same as @Lillupsy

any unused hours due to my sickness for all year round children will be used during the 1/2 term holiday or against the hours the parent pay for.
