Tax free childcare for school meals?

I have a DS who is 3 and has just started preschool (attached to a school, not a private nursery). He's part time so hours are fully funded, I just have to pay for lunches (or send a packed lunch). Does anyone know if I can use tax free childcare to pay for the lunches?

I've contacted the tax free childcare helpline and they weren't helpful and said check with the school, and the school don't know. Google turns up contradictory answers. At the moment I'm paying direct, but would appreciate the 20% saving if it's allowed!

Yes you can if the school accept it as a method of payment. It's allowed by TFC but they are telling you to check because not all settings accept tax free childcare as a method of payment.

Thank you, I'll see if I can get the school to accept it.
