How much is your nanny?

I am looking at going back to work and with three children (a baby, a 4 year old and a 5 year old) I'm wondering if a nanny would be cost effective. I was thinking she could do school pick up on the days she is here plus look after the other two at home.

We would probably need her 3 days. I've no idea how much it would cost with NI and pension insurance contributions. If you have a nanny, what does it cost please? We are in Yorkshire if that's helpful.

There are salary calculators you can use to work out how much employers NI and pension contributions will be. I think nannytax has one on their website.

In terms of hourly rate I don't know the market in Yorkshire (I'm in London). Have a look at NannyJob in your area or local agencies to get an idea of what sort of rate a nanny would be expecting. In London, it's around £20-25ph, but with flex both ways. I would imagine it would be less in Yorkshire, but I don't know.

We are in the East Midlands. We chose a nanny through an introduction agency. The more hours you are offering the less per hour it is. eg we have a nanny for 40 hrs a week, she asked for £15.50 an hour. All in, including NI contributions, pension contributions and pay roll fees (we use nannytax) it comes to around £3k/month. She is great though, really experienced, kind, organised etc and our dc love her. She does everything to do with the kids (gives then breakfast, lunch, tea, shops and cooks for the meal, washes all the clothes, puts away etc, tidies. And although we don't ask/expect will often also empty the dishwasher, peg out some washing etc
