Entitlement confusion?

I have been claiming 15 hours free childcare for my son who's now 17 moths old. We started in January 2025 and opted for non stretched hours meaning our 38 weeks a year free has been used up. He's now moved nurserys and will be started I'm September for 3 days a week meaning he'll be using his 30 funded hours that the government has brought in.

Confusions lies in whether because we started in Jan and haven't stretched our hours have we now run out of funded hours for the year? Chatgpt says funding resets every term so we will have the full 30 hour entitlement in September?
Has anyone got a clue about how it works and whether we will get funding September or if we have to wait til January when it will have been a year since we started funding?

Yes funding is allocated termly so you'll get 30 hours during term time from September. I'm surprised you've got to the 23rd August without asking your setting aboit this.

And if you havent stretched your funding then you won't have had 15 x 38 weeks since January. You'll have had around 24 weeks with the remaining 14 available for the autumn term.

@TickyandTacky it's been very short notice, we are moving house and didn't know he had a definite place until last week! They billed me yesterday in advance for September and didn't apply the funding even though I've sent them the code. Hence just wanted to make sure I was entitled before questioning!

How many weeks did you use in each term? In my LA it was 11 weeks in the Spring term, and 13 in the Summer. Then September you have 14 weeks of 30 hours.
