30 hours working parents funding and new job

Asking for my sister who isn’t on Mumsnet but she’s searched the internet and no luck!
My niece is starting school nursery in September and will be getting 15 hours per week. She is doing 4 afternoons in another local nursery which my sister is paying for. My sister currently earns around £150 a week in her job but in her new job she will be earning more and therefore entitled to working parents discount. Her new job is working from home so she can pick my niece up from nursery 1 and take her to nursery 2 but nursery 1 has said a full time 30 hour place has came up which is great as she wouldn’t have to take her to nursery 2 at lunch time. My sister applied for her working parents 30 hour childcare and got the code for my niece, but she is reluctant to give it to nursery 1 as she doesn’t have a start date for her new job and what if HMRC say she isn’t eligible come September when she goes back to nursery and she then loses her place in nursery 2 as shes said yes to nursery 1. Now here’s the question

  1. Can her code expire by September if she doesn’t start new job by then? (She’s pretty sure it will be end of aug / start of September)

I haven’t dealt with this before only the tax free childcare so I really don’t have a clue, mines always been straight forward but I have a partner and we both work. I don’t want to tell her to leave nursery 2 for nursery 1 and her code ends up not working and then she has nowhere to go in the afternoon! TIA

She shouldn't have been issued with the funding code. I presume she has stated in her application that she will have started the new role before the end of September.
Your sister will need to renew the codle and at that point HMRC will run detailed checks to ensure she is earning £196 per week or more. If she isn't then she will be having problems. Childcare choices and HMRC are putting more stringent checks in place and will persure fraudulent claims going forward. Your sister could have a difficult conversation coming her way if she hasn't started the role.
If she logs into her secure messages on the government gateway she should be able to see when her code ends and when she needs to renew the code.

Thank you! My sister said the application didn’t ask what date she’s starting her job, just asked her if she is starting a new job which she ticked yes. I have advised her to ask for an earlier start date or try and up her hours in the current job for the next few weeks so that she’s earning the correct amount. I’ve just asked what date she needs to renew the code and it’s between October and November so I think she should be okay then as she will have 100% started.
