Starting a new job

Hi , sorry if I’m sounding a bit dense but I started a new job this week that makes me eligible for funded hours and tax free childcare.

Can I successfully apply for a code immediately? Or will gov expect me to have 3 months worth of income before and to provide payslips / bank statements showing income?

You can but the code won't be valid until September now, this summer term has already started.

Has your child started childcare yet?

Thanks.
I haven’t been eligible up until now, so I was just curious if that slowed down the process because of no earnings history etc.

No it doesn't.

You could have applied up to a month before starting your job and if you had your code by 31st March, could have used it for this term .
