Yes, there was a consultation about it, which ended Feb 2008.
Google's Cache of the main consultation document which details the fee proposals.
Band 1 (Childminders) would go from £20 currently, to £100 by 2010.

yes, the fee will be going up, an you will pay for two now instead of just your reg with ofsted..i received my letter last week, but they fail to add how much the fee will be..aparently we will know in july when they send an "are you ready for your inspection" pack out

I got told at a meeting on Monday night that you only will pay 1 fee but it will be the higher fee out of whatever of the registers you need to be on.

heres what my letter says from ofsted..."i am writing to you about new arrangements for your registration with ofsted asa childcare provider. In april 2007 we launched the voluntary part of the child care register for childcare providers. from 1st september 2008 this will be joined by: the early years register and the compulsary aprt of the childcare register"..blah blah blah..."you will ahve to pay one annual fee to ramain on the two registers, the date you apy your current fee will be the date you pay the new fee. The department for children, schools and families has not yet set the fee.we will write to you with the fee details nearer the time of transfer"...sorry says later about the 2are you ready.." pack, thats the aprt that says july 08.
