Hi !

I’d like to have your opinion if you think this childminder is good or not :

She only does craft a couple of times a week,
She takes the children to playgroup 3 times a week, one day they go to softplay or farm, park etc
at the moment, the children in her care sleep from 1 to 3.
in the afternoon, they go to different playgrounds.

No tv

3 meals included in fees, wipes and nappies too, all outings.

Would you be put off by a childminder who is mostly out all day ? Not doing lots of activities at home ?

Thank you !

This sounds absolutely fantastic!

Mrsttcno1 · 05/03/2025 21:08

Personally I think that sounds amazing. I’d far rather them be out & about than stuck in the house all day every day.

TartanMammy · 05/03/2025 21:13

Sounds great. Lots of different activities, lots of outdoor time and physical activity. But routine and structure to the day around naps and playgroups.

Sth08 · 05/03/2025 21:13

Sounds great to me. I wanted my young children to spend their time outside most of the day, playing and exploring, forest school. That type of thing. So made sure to pick a nursery place where they were outside for large chunks of the day.

If you want your child do be inside most of the day then maybe you need a different childminder?

What would you prefer?

Holdonforsummer · 05/03/2025 21:15

I would have loved this for my kids.

Lookingforwardto2025 · 05/03/2025 21:16

Would definitely prefer one who was taking them out and about.

Jackiebrambles · 05/03/2025 21:17

Sounds fab, why would this put you off?

RaspberryScrubs · 05/03/2025 21:18

Are you put off by the busy-ness?

Stardust286 · 05/03/2025 21:18

She sounds amazing. A lot like my sons childminder, she was always out with him! We are a very outdoorsy family and my son has fond memories of parks, woodlands, Moor walks, beach trips he went on with the childminder.

Togglebullets · 05/03/2025 21:20

I was out all the time when I was a childminder. We usually spent the mornings out and the afternoons at home to accommodate naps. I did do lots of art and crafts, baking, messy play as well though

SchoolDilemma17 · 05/03/2025 21:21

Sounds great, I wish mine was out more

SchoolDilemma17 · 05/03/2025 21:22

I wouldn’t consider a childminder that has tv on tbh. That’s a big turn off for me.

Sharkinthepark1 · 05/03/2025 21:22

I’m not put off - just asking ! With spring/summer coming I can only imagine dc being outside (17 months old). I just needed to be comforted in my opinion!

Another confused about why you think anyone would be 'put off'.

Being out and about doing things sounds like a big plus to me.

Sharkinthepark1 · 05/03/2025 21:35

Sorry English is not my first language - and it can be a little bit intimidating to post on mumsnet. I didn’t mean put off..I meant would you be alright if your child was out and about all day bar for breakfast, lunch, nap, dinner !

AstroZombie · 05/03/2025 21:40

Sounds lovely, healthy and educational

autisticbookworm · 05/03/2025 21:45

That was similar to my routine as a childminder. I loved it. We did craft every day tho 4-430 sometimes just colouring sometimes a n m activity

ThreeMagicNumber · 05/03/2025 21:46

I think she sounds brilliant.

Sugargliderwombat · 05/03/2025 21:48

My child's childminder is like this and it's amazing! Go for it OP.

I’m so glad everyone has been so positive about this as that’s just the routine we have at my setting. Although in winter months we’d spend afternoons based at home more after naps. Plus some children get collected at 4pm so it limits the time after naps to get out for walks/parks

ChocolatesAndRainbows · 06/03/2025 20:02

Sounds a nice varied day.
