Should I put bubba in nursery a week before starting work for my own sake to help me get used to leaving them or will settling in days be enough? If

I mean, if you can afford it, then yes absolutely do it. Give yourself some breathing space before going back to work as well

I personally wish I'd have done this and will be doing it when my second child is born. Not only is it a good transition for you but it means you can give them slightly reduced days if you want to, to ease them into it. I.e. if they're due to be in nursery from 8-5pm you could drop them off at 9am and pick them up at 4pm for that week so it's not as full on. It will also give you a week to clear your head and have some free time before going back into work!

A thousand times yes

I did it and it was good! We put her in nursery 2 weeks prior to my return.

Firstly, the settling in sessions were only 2 hours - I used one week to give her short days, so she had a 4 hr day, then 6, then 8 (now she’s there 10 hours a day).

We then used the second week for me and my husband to reconnect (he took holiday) - so we had one day where we just slept and one day we went to Go Ape and had a lunch out. It meant I felt a bit more myself before I went back to work.

Yes. Did I mention yes?

Avoid doing everything all in one day if you can - going back to work is hard. Child starting nursery is hard. Space it out.

Yes, not a bad idea. But please stop calling your baby Bubba.

I sent my child to nursery before starting work. It was really difficult to leave him but after I realised how much breathing space I get I was excited to drop him off. Also excited to pick him up after. Days go quickly.

I would. It depends on the child so DS1 took absolutely ages to settle, we did way more settling in days than originally planned, and we were really grateful we'd started way in advance. Based on that experience we started DS2 a bit early too, but in the event he settled really quickly and was fine. But it did also help to be able to pick him up early so the days were shorter at first. We had that flexibility due to me not being at work yet.

Yes if possible, start settling in before you start work. Such a good idea.

I'm a cm and have a baby starting in April we've already had 3 visits with mum and this week starting short visits without. Before April we will build up to a full day at babys pace
