Posting here for traffic as I couldn't find the right category to post in from the list provided.

Im waiting to hear back for a nursery/childcare placement for DD to start at the beginning of april. The nursery is new so I know they more likely will have space at short notice. I went for a look around at the beginning of November and sent off my application forms via email later that same week.
I haven't heard anything back, so 2 weeks ago I chased this up and was told to fill in a sort enrollment form again on their website. I did this immediately and still haven't heard anything back.

I'm really worried that come April I'm going to have no childcare for when I have to go back to work. I've found a couple of local childminders online and have said they will put me on the waiting list and will be in contact nearer the time but this isn't giving me much hope nor a concrete answer.

Any advice? I have no idea how all this works and if this is normal process.

The problem with new nurseries is they have to recruit qualified staff according to the numbers of children requiring spaces and there is a massive shortage of qualified staff. Nurseries are having to offer more incentives to entice staff. If it's a big chain then it's usually easier to offer more money or a welcome bonus. They may not be getting back to you just yet if they haven't managed to employ enough staff yet. Definitely look into other options while you're waiting.

Thank you @EbbandTheWanderingHearts they are definitely open though. There was children there when I had my look around and have still been advertising for spring/summer enrollment. So I'm just a little bit confused about whether we have a placement, on the waiting list or not at all. I think I'm going to have to try and approach as many settings as possible and try to get something nailed down. I don't want to be stuck in the last few weeks 😫

That doesn't bode well in regards to future communication if they can't give you an answer as to whether you have a place or not. 🙈 Good communication is vital when you're leaving your children at a nursery. I hope you hear back soon or find somewhere else in the meantime. 🙂

Its annoying because they were super quick at responding when I was initially booking the look around and again when I chased it up a couple of weeks ago but both times I've completed and sent back forms as requested its been radio silent. I don't know whether to get back in touch for a final time to see what is happening or just leave it and hope for the best whilst looking elsewhere and praying its not to late.

I agree communication is key and with just over 5 weeks to go I'm really starting to panic.

I would call, not email as many providers as possible. Good luck x
