Nursery ofsted registered but no rating?

Hi mums, hoping I could pls get some advice. My baby is down for a privately run nursery near us that’s been open for 10-12 years. The Ofsted website says ‘April 2023 Registration, early years register’ but no inspection has taken place? My question is, when they are registered in the first instance do nurseries have to comply with any processes / standards / checks? I’m wondering how they have been running for 10-12 years but seem to only have Ofsted registration from 2023? Feeling very worried :( thanks in advance!!

Not odd at all. Sounds like they've re-registered under new owners. Schools do it all the time when they become academies for example.

It sounds like they’ve re-registered in 2022 and not been assessed under the new name yet.

Do you know of any old names?

They won't have one, they haven't been inspected yet.

Our nursery was like this for a bit, it was under one name for around 10 years, then taken over by a large company so was ofsted registered just no inspection under the new name.
if you put the address into the ofsted website it will show you the previous name and the previous ofsted reports

If they have re registered as a new business it will. Which sounds like they have in this case.

FrannyScraps · 21/12/2024 09:21

@ForOpenLeader This is a really really common situation, I'm not sure why you're being so weird about it?

OP says they have, read the post again. Registered in April 2023.

I'm saying that MIGHT be a reason why they have re registered the premises! Fgs. There are other reasons but that's the most common. Why do you personally need to know the reason, maybe the OP doesn't even know the reason. The reason doesn't matter! They are allowed to and they have!

It's more than likely that they have re-registered for some reason, can you see other providers at the postcode? If so you may be able to see the previous registration's inspections.

Abbie2222 · 21/12/2024 16:32

Thanks @Ladybird982828282828 I have tried searching under the postcode and address but can’t find anything? Very strange! Is it possible for a nursery to operate for a while with no ofsted registration?

@FrannyScraps sorry I can’t see Open Leader’s posts but I don’t know the reason why they’ve re registered. From what I understand it’s the same owners the whole time so we’re trying to figure out what the situation is because feedback is mixed.

any ideas on how I can properly search under the address? Thank you!

OP when you search for an inspection under the new registration, if you click on the results for new registration it should say something like also registered at this postcode and have a link to the old registration.

Snozzlemaid · 26/12/2024 21:32

If they've changed to become a ltd company they will have had to re register.
