am just starting out on the rocky road to becoming reg as a CM....doing my Risk Assessments etc...any of you operate with only having an upstairs loo?..I have gates at top and bottom of stairs ..but my question is when I go to the loo or a young mindee may need help etc ..what shall I do with other mindees ?..surely we don't all have to go too?

As long as they are within earshot and any young ones safe ie in travel cot or highchair it shouldnt be a problem Thats what I was told. You are entitled to your privacy

oh thats a relief!! our toilet struggles to fit in a crowd....they would be within earshot so hopefully okay thanks!!

I 'go' when the 3.5 yr old goes, he always tells me not to look so I quickly nip in my ensuite and do what I need to do and whizz back along the landing! Its not that big a house so I can actually hear him shouting that he's finished.

I don't look after babies any more so I dispensed with stair gates on the stairs, will be putting one on the kitchen to keep older kids away from my food though! I'm also going to get a fridge lock.

Privacy - whats that?
