Would any parents use a new type of childcare, this is instead of childminding or nurseries?

It's called "childcare provider on domestic premises"

What do you think?

sounds like a CM with a new description

collision · 23/04/2008 20:57

TheOriginalXENA · 23/04/2008 20:57

KatyMac · 23/04/2008 20:57

hmm. kind of old country house kind of 'nurse'? passed down through 7 generations of ffforbes-smythes and still holding together the nursery at 106 or more like a housekeeper?

NaughtyNigel · 23/04/2008 20:58

job description?

KatyMac · 23/04/2008 20:59

Xena - advantages to parents.....hmm something else to confuse you?

Advantages to me.....hmm none major rebranding/readvertising meeting new regulations and new rules

It's what I am currently doing (childminding in a group) just renamed

collision · 23/04/2008 21:01

if it is what you are already doing then why would you rebrand it?

KatyMac · 23/04/2008 21:02

I don't want to - but OFSTED are going to prevent me from being a childminder

KatyMac · 23/04/2008 21:05

Wouldn't be so bad if they had given us a name

OP posts:
collision · 23/04/2008 21:06

why are they going to prevent you being a CM?

KatyMac · 23/04/2008 21:08

"The law states that where more than three persons at any time provide or assist in the provision of childcare on domestic premises, then it is no longer childminding.

This means that both the options you have listed in your query would trigger a change in registration from childminder to childcare provider on domestic premises.

If the provision is made up of more than three persons, even if they don't all work together on the same day(s), then you will no longer be acting as a childminder but as childcare on domestic premises.

It would be possible to be registered as a childminder and also be a staff member of an early or later years provision, for example a childminder works in her own home or other domestic premises from Monday to Wednesday and works part-time on Thursday and Friday as an assistant in a nursery class."

Apparently

you are worrying too much about the red tape stuff, just try and do it.

KatyMac · 23/04/2008 21:18

I can't my local council won't allow a business on domestic premises - I have asked

This new classification is a business not childminding

My last day of business will be 31st August

Yabbadabbadooo · 23/04/2008 21:20

This is just bureaucratic bolleaux. It's also just a label.

What do you want to be?

KatyMac · 23/04/2008 21:21

A childminder

collision · 23/04/2008 21:23

then sort your house out and get it OFSTEDed and do it!

You have been so strong with all your plans over the last few years so do not let them win now!!

fight it!

KatyMac · 23/04/2008 21:25

My street is designated residential - my home is a domestic dwelling - my local authority will not allow a 'Change of use' application to allow me to run a business in my house

I can't do anything about it

OP posts:
KatyMac · 23/04/2008 21:26

This isn't about the new nursery - this is about my existing business

OP posts:
AtheneNoctua · 23/04/2008 21:40

What if you alter the staff situation? Maybe you need fewer employees who work more hours. It sounds harsh, but if you are closed down they aren't going to have a job anyway.

OFSTED has gone mad and no longer has the interest of the children as a priority! Crazy!

KatyMac · 23/04/2008 21:41

I'll be one of them that loses my job

I have ME & can't work full-time
