Can I get some feedback on those that have first hand experience of a live in nanny if possible

How your found it worked out?

What kind of accommodation / pay you were paying?

Any tricky situations that arose.

What hours they worked for you.

What was your collectively decided mode of providing meals.

  • did you ask them what they’d like and it’s added to the weekly shop or?

Did you find them to be discreet about your personal matters.

What age bracket of nanny did you go with for the role?

When not working what did they fill their spare hours with etc

After speaking with a few agencies I think have narrowed it down to a good agency.
They have Nannies open to part time hours because they are either studying or other reasons they prefer this and might work okay for our household.
Just bit apprehensive having never delved into this before.

it will be a solo parent household. I have two dogs which have their own area in the home so won’t be in the way of the nanny if she doesn’t want them to be.

many thanks

I had a live on nanny many years ago. Paid £80 per week plus board and lodging . It was nearly 30 years ago. She just became one of the family. We’re still in touch now.

My unofficial live in nanny (chose to stay Tues night to Fri) has just left me. Also solo parent.

She did 3 long days (0630-7pm) some Mon nights and some Mon days.
Generally ate with my daughter, running whiteboard in the kitchen with anything needed to add to the weekly supermarket click and collect as well as an understanding about what the regular order was.

separate annexe with own entrance but would watch tv with me in the evenings. No concerns re personal discretion but I’m very boring and appreciated that she wasn’t around at weekends.

Actually much easier that she lived in and good backup if I was late.

Live in Nanny or live in Au pair

Very different with regards to hours / Pay etc

What age are your children?
What kind of hours are you looking for?
What expectations have YOU got?
