I need emergency childcare in a few weeks so found a childminder, I need 9-3pm two days for 2 boys aged 5/9 and the childminder said the charge is £280 for 2 days I’ve never bedded childcare is that right?

Well my childminder would charge £144 for that amount of time

Sounds like she charges £70 per day which is about right.

£70 for 6 hours work is only around 20p more per hour than the bare minimum legal wage, isn't it?

For a cm seems costly as it's £11ish ph per child

You're lucky to find someone who will take two that age that they haven't had before. The rate is fine.

But if the childminder has 4 children, that's a good hourly rate ☺️

It's not all wages though and only if there are 4 children for the full week ...if these are for a few days most of the week would be 2 or less children....to be able to take on 2 suggests they are not full.
