been looking for somewhere to go today as weather isnt going to be to good (apparantly) so i found brokkets farm in surrey. that looks good i thougt but very pricy. then i saw that they do great childminder rates. fab i thought thats the place for me.................guess what they dont count during school hols. what the hell is the point then! how about a name and shame thread for expensive (anti cm) places to go. why is everything so expensive.

That is strange, I went there yesterday and asked for CM discount and they gave it to me!

Have been there a lot, so maybe they recognised me.

This is the same for an activity centre we go to. They advertise not during school holidays, but it's usually given, because they lose a lot of business that way!

AtheneNoctua · 17/04/2008 08:53

It's just like everything else (i.e. holidays). Jack up the prices when people can actually use the service. This practice in the UK annoys me to no end. But, I don't see it changing. Unless maybe if all the schools juggle their schedule so that not everyone goes on break at the same time.

Anyway, I sypathise and agree with you. I would name and shame as well.

that is so annoying!!

My oldest is still on school hols this week, but many of the schools near us are back this week.

We have been there, its a good place to go - hope you have fun and manage to get in cheaper

It's a real pain in my area, as this week the children I care for Are At School... it's not school holidays. But in the surrounding local authorities, this week is a School Holiday - so everywhere is busy and pay places are at peek rate. Can't do our usual swimming this week, as the under 5's swimming session isn't on. Under 5's don't have school holidays, so why does the swimming pool not keep the sessions - yeah I know why, they want to charge full fee and let in school aged children... if I were running the pool, I'd do the same. It's the way business is... you give offers during off-peak, not when you have crowds at your door.

i had to pay full wack. but i told them waht i thougt

hi there

I went to this place yesterday. I did ask for the discount but i was refused! I am off to Kidspace today on the Purley Way. This is really expensive during holidays. and they won't entertain a childminder discount at any time.
