Can't get 30hrs child support if I don't choose full time?

Hi

My little one went to a nursery from 9:30-3:30 with 30hrs childcare support. Due to my husband job we have been relocated to a new place and we have contacted a new nursery.

The new nursery has AM/PM sessions from 8am to 6pm. As I am babysitting a second one and was happy with previous nursery hours I requested afternoon session only.

But nursery said 30 hrs funding cannot be valid so I need to pay the full payment.

Is there any condition to get 30 hrs support? Or is it this nursery only?

We are struggling to fit into the nursery time with best funding available.

Please advice. Thanks.

How old is the child? Tbh nurseries cannot function with the low amount paid by the government, so some are imposing different rules to ensure they can bring in some private fees too.

Did they say you can't use them at all, or can't unless you go full time?

Nurseries can choose how they apply the funding. I don’t believe it’s uncommon for nurseries to want each child to do at least some non-funded hours.

Are you on mat leave op? Or have you left your job in order to move? As far as I'm aware the 30 hr funding is only applicable if both parents ( or only if a single parent) are working, or if they're disabled/a carer.

I work from home and run my own business. I am currently on maternity leave though.

As a previous poster said, it's completely up to each setting to decide how they offer funded hours, how many funded places they offer etc. If they don't offer afternoon only places, then that's up to them.
