am registered on a briefing day course in June, and can't register for the NCMA Intro To CM'ing course until I have done the first, then obvioulsy there is the rest of the registration process to go thru'..I wanted to be up and running by September ..is this likely to be possible do you think?

I am doing the ICP course at the moment and should complete this on 1st May, then I have been told I would have to wait about 6 months for all the checks, medicals etc to be completed. I didnt realise it would take so long when I first started. This is in South Wales by the way, so it might be different in England.

thanks cornetjo..am in North Wales, I know there is a high demand for CM's in this area but s'pose this won't make a lot of odds...DD starts pre school in September and was hoping to be set up by then to mind another little one at preschool, stupidly didn't realise it would take soo long ( was thinking 4 months would be fine! doh!)ah well looks like maybe an evening job for me until am registered!!!

I mnay be wrong but I think you can start the registration process and in fact get registered without having actually completed the ICP and 1st Aid course as long as you complete both within 6 months of starting.

So it probably is doable by September as long as you're booked onto the courses.

In my area I cant start the registration process until I have completed the ICP course, although I have 6 months to do a 1st aid course once I have registered. If it takes so long for the checks to be done, I can't see why the forms etc cant be given to us when we first start the ICP course so that by the time we finish the checks should be coming through, instead of doing the course and then having to apply for registration.
