Yawn, been up since 5.45 am with dd and shattered. Off to see Wickes though for a new mock up to replace our unusable kitchen in an hour or so - but really just want my bed

Kay - how frightening, can't believe how nasty some parents can get!! Definitely give notice, you don't need this!!!

Snow here too. Ds shouted SNOOOOOOOW first thing when he went in the playroom and saw the garden!! We couldn't believe it, we thought it was just going to be a bit of sleat again! Anyway, it's his birthday party this afternoon so I'm just hoping the turn out is still ok. We're off shopping this morning for the final bits so dh said he'll come down at 9am (it's his lie in) and take him out to try and build a snowman before it goes. He gets 20 mins out there then we need to crack on with all the party stuff.

looneytune · 06/04/2008 08:54

mumlove - the holidays start tomorrow over here, 2 weeks off and I'm actually really pleased. Yes, ds will no doubt do my head in BUT at least I get off the school runs and there aren't so many groups on so not so much rushing around. I am looking forward to having a more chilled couple of weeks tbh (as it's just babies - 3 months, 11 months, 13 months and ds whose 5).

mumlove · 06/04/2008 08:55

Didn't get up early enough, the snow has stopped and is now melting away. DD is .

looneytune · 06/04/2008 09:00

Actually, can I ask you all a question. WWYD if you THOUGHT a mum at school was doing a bit of childminding on the side? I don't THINK she's registered but I can't be sure as not all minders are listed on childcarelink website plus not 100% sure where she lives? I do know she's doing most of the day with a young child and I've seen cash exchanged. She's a nice enough mum and it's not like I need the business but I sort of feel annoyed that we have to do all this stuff yet someone can earn easy cash on the side without doing everything we have to do.

looneytune · 06/04/2008 09:01

Oh Well the snow has stopped now but is still there atm. I did take pics in case it disappeared as quick as it came (on profile). Ds is just getting dressed to go out and TRY and build a snowman. He's only played in snow once, when he was about 2/3 (up north) but the snow was really weird and due to being iced overnight, wouldn't stick so couldn't do anything with it.

southernbelle77 · 06/04/2008 09:10

We still have really heavy snow here! Just having breakfast and then getting up and going to get nephew so dd and he can play in the snow together! It's very exciting!!

mumlove · 06/04/2008 09:21

I would love to have thick snow like that for a couple of days, but blue skies are appearing and so is the sun.
At least I managed to get a pic of DD stood in the garden.

Looney - will have a think on that 1.

MaureenMLove · 06/04/2008 09:42

Incredibly, there is thick snow and still falling here in South London! That never happens! DD despatched next door to build a snowman with the kids and I'm just trying to get DH out of bed, to come to the park with everyone. I'm rounding up all the neighbours for a snowball flight! DH being a grumpy b*stard though, because I should have checked with him first, before making plans for him!

KaySamuels · 06/04/2008 09:45

Good morning

We don't have any snow here, it's very sunny! Thanks everyone for your support, it really has helped, did not sleep well at all last night.

LT - I wouldn't do anything yet she may well be registered. I would keep an eye for now and see what you can find out discretely. Could you strike up a general conversation with her? I understand tho, unregistered minders are my pet peeve too.

MaureenMLove · 06/04/2008 09:55

Hmm. I thought I'd stopped this minding lark. I have 3 mindees in my house now!

looneytune · 06/04/2008 10:47

I'm deffo not going to do anything unless I find out she isn't but even then (if I find not reg'd), I'm not sure I'll do anything tbh.

Well, ds has finally helped make his first ever snowman Pic on profile as doubt that will happen again for a VERY long time.

Dh has gone shopping for bits for the party (yeah, yeah, last minute and all that!). As soon as he's back it's all systems go for packing party bags, preparing food boxes etc. Just hope he manages to get everything on the list!!

Sun out now. I actually don't mind if the snow melts as at least less are likely to drop out of ds's party later.

Bye for now x

vInTaGeVioLeT · 06/04/2008 12:19

wow what a fab snowman!

MaureenMLove · 06/04/2008 13:29

That is a good snowman!

We've had a fab morning. After DH had made sausage and egg mcmuffins for us and next door, I got my family, Kbears family and nextdoors and we all went to the park for a massive snowball fight! We stayed in the playground bit, so we had lots of equipment to hide behind and the kids made piles of snowballs for ammo! The dads were like little boys again! All came back here for hot chocolate and cookies and its only just stopped snowing.

crace · 06/04/2008 16:13

Awww sounds like everyone has had a fabulous day. So have we! Dd and I just back from a snowy walk and puddle jumping - how often do you get to make snowballs and snow angels AND puddle jump?? Great fun, but I am FREEZING.

I miss snow, it's the first time I have seen snow since I left home 4 years ago. It snows unbelievably in New England and I have missed having wet vs snowy winters. Hooray!

Snow here has almost all gone, it didn't last long.
Went swimming this morning, Coral Reef was a little quieter than usual - though still had to wait for a changing room when we (took a 5 year old with me) got out of the pool.
Met up with some old friends at the local Harvester for lunch. But now I'm thinking about food again.
Hmm, what to make. Fridge contains: Milk, Broccoli, 2 mushrooms, and some orange juice. Hmm, not sure I can make a lot with that!
Note to self: must go shopping tomorrow

looneytune · 06/04/2008 20:44

Cheers, the snowman WAS pretty cool, he's now a particially melted snowman, that made quite a funny pic

Mo - sounds like a right laugh! If we didn't have the party to sort, we'd have been off to the park behind us as all the grass was covered in snow and would have been great, just didn't have enough time today.

crace - glad you had fun Not sure what thread you mean about Americans?

Nick - Coral Reef QUIET at the weekend!!! Lucky you

Well, I'm EXHAUSTED after a mad day and now got a horrible cold and can't stop blowing my nose Oh well, at least no school run tomorrow

nannynick · 06/04/2008 22:14

My TV just blew up! Well, not quite but it did let out a puff of fowl smoke as the picture disintegrated. Have unplugged it, so with luck it won't catch fire.

KatyMac · 06/04/2008 22:52

Hi all - I spent the day planning my birthday party

Wouldn't it be nice if someone did it for you?
