Hi, Does anyone know what happened after the petition we signed for childminders to inland revenue regarding the childcare payment should be made directly to childminder??

The NCMA vote was agreed in favour of pursuing this, but I don't know what happens next.

I voted against actually, I think its a really bad idea. At the moment parents are responsible for paying me and they get reimbursed by the tax credits if they are entitled. If payment is late they pay a late payment fee. And none of these pay me late, they want to avoid the late fee and pay promptly. If the parent commits fraud/lies to tax office its nothing to do with me, the parent will be the one paying back any overpayment. So works well for me.

If I am to be paid direct by tax credits, it is very unlikely they will pay in advance as all the parents do at the moment. And I'm not sure if they pay my late payment fee if there is a delay or shortage in the payment? As it won't be them who have signed my contract The parent won't, because they will say its the tax credits fault and nothing to do with them. If there is a problem or error or the parent's circumstances change reducing their entitlement I probably won't know about it until I find my bank account is overdrawn. If the parent lies/commits fraud, how will I be able to prove I wasn't a part of it? And surely it would mean I would have to repay it and not the parent? I can't see any benefit to me of having it paid direct at all. It will only mean more late payments and chasing fees.

TBH I'm with Ayla - it's just unreliable - look how landlords used to get stuffed before HB was paid direct to claimants
