Keeping 5 month old entertained

i have a 5 month old baby and I’m really struggling with ideas to keep her entertained, has anyone got any ideas of what do you normally do with your babies this young?

she has a playgym I put her in and also try to play with her with little toys and stuff but I always feel guilty at the end of every day that I haven’t done enough to keep her entertained. I really don’t like switching on the tv as I feel like it’s not good for her.

anyone got any ideas or recommendations? Thank you

We go out and do things I want to do! Coffee, museums, walks, whatever!

Chat to them while you do things around the house. Give them random (safe) household objects to explore. But the best thing for mine was getting out and about, she loved being out and got so much out of it.

It’s such a tough age!

Sensory play - lights, bubbles, doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive. Sensory bottles (glitter and Pom Pom’s eg in bottles with some water). Shakers (bought or home made).

Outside play - take a blanket and sit somewhere nice.

Singing - not just nursery rhymes, songs you actually like to sing and dance around to.

Fancy dress, funny faces, in the mirror. Hats, headbands, sunglasses. Look in the mirror together and pull funny faces!

Naked time! Use puppy or incontinence pads to prevent surprises causing a mess. Tickle baby with feathers, scarves.

You can do alot but don't burn yourself out.

You can go out for walks, shaving foam in a plastic bag lol, watch good shows that aren't stimulating like cocomelon, biking or teaching your kids to ride a bike, or enroll them kn a club!

Why do you feel the need to entertain a 5 month old? If you make yourself the sole source of entertainment or direct their play they will be dependent on you for ever. Believe me, I'm suffering the consequences of doing that with my now 6 year old
