Hi, I know I don't get a chance to come on to chat very often, due to lots of boring reasons, but I really need some advice.

I've been looking after a child since the autumn, 5 days a week, taking and picking up from pre-school. Child is lovely and we get on really well.

School have offered 3 full days, so mum wants me to do 2 days, still with pre-school place, and 5 days during the hols.

On the strength of this income I've booked a holiday and I'm so stressed now.

So what should I do? I thought full pay for 2 days and 50% for 3 days as obviously I can't have over my under 8 numbers in the hols so can't take on another mindee on the 3 days.

I must mention that I'm gutted as I really do love this little one and hoped to be together til full time school; you know how you just click with some kids? Really a part of the family!!

Any advice will be gratefully received, EM

i would go with the 2 days pay and 50% for the 3 days and try to advertise the 3 days term time only then you can drop the 50%

tell mum this is your plan she may know somebody in pre-school wanting 3 days term time only and this would reduce her bill if she found somebody

Thanks DMO I have friend who teaches locally so I could ask her to spread the word.

I'm concerned about inset days though; this is a Welsh medium school and their training and holidays tend to be different to the English schools, which might cause a problem.

Are term-time only contracts common? Would it be worth sending a letter to local schools via LEA?

i have a child term time only
his brother goes to a non cath school so hols tend to be a bit different but mum only wanted to pay term time (and this is my term time not hers) so sometimes the child is off 3 weeks but she still pays me for the space if its not my schools holidays (hope this makes sense)
