Tips on Feeding

My baby is now 4 months old, and I just started giving him puréed food, but feeding is a nightmare! He won't stop playing with the food, pushing away my hand, and he just always makes a mess.

What problems do you face when feeding? Does anyone have any advice/recommended products/brands?

I've been looking into some special cutlery and non-spill bowls, but I don't know which one to invest in.

Also, I've been looking into the Montessori method, any thoughts on that?

Hi there.
Were you advised to start so early? Four months is very young for weaning.

Babies need milk far more then they need food at this age.

This also has nothing to do with childcare.... try the feeding section.

4 months is quite young unless you’ve been advised by a doctor due to baby being premature or allergies.

Sounds like he just isn’t ready yet, I would wait for another couple of months and try again when he’s 6 months.

Yes I would stop, for now. Restart at around 6 months.

idontlikealdi · 14/01/2024 16:32

Why are you weaning at 4 months?

TheShellBeach · 14/01/2024 17:34

OP have you been advised to start weaning this early?

User3067 · 14/01/2024 20:34

Just to clarify, I haven't started weaning, I just tried to introduce some other foods. But thank you for the comments! I'll stop for now and restart later.

But for now, are there some products that you would recommend?

I'd just start introducing finger foods from 6 months. Weaning is an absolute faff and I would put it off as long as you can.

I'd investigate baby led weaning, OP and start it when your baby is six months old.

If you've introduced other foods you've started weaning?

This is true, OP.
Did somebody suggest it to you?

I'm puzzled. That's what weaning is.
