5 year old bedtime routine on vacation

Hi lovely mommies - help me if I am over worrying about my (nearly) 5 year old's routine on a week long vacation.

So I am nervous to break his routine but others think it's ok to let the child enjoy on holiday and get a life! While DS is generally ok even with slightly less sleep.. and it's not a big problem next day for anyone if he has gone to bed 1-2 hours later.

Am I a bad mom to try and follow his routine. Or should I let him stay up and have fun when others are still up! I know if I don't ask him, he would stay up till midnight!! Shall I go with the flow and let him slip his routine?

TYIA

Do what works for you, if you are out later than normal and bedtime slips a bit later, no bother. If you are in your accommodation and nothing planned might as well put him to bed as normal. I tend to find little ones do better staying to their general routine, makes them well rested to enjoy the days activities, but I know other families would rather them stay up late to hopefully have the children sleep in longer in the mornings! 😅

However if they are over tired, regardless of whats going on, I'd much rather put them to bed than push through. Just take it day by day.

Dts were hideous outside of their routine until about 7. Other people have kids that cope fine with it. Really depends on the child

Wait and see what happens and go with the flow

Ours after the first 2 days told us 'I'm tired' and had zero interest in evening entertainment he insisted we went to the room for him to go to bed, I know others who have had them have a short nap by the pool/in bed some days, and some who have happily gone to bed midnight been up 6am charging round full of beans!

Depends on the child really!

Mostly enjoy your holiday and the fun it brings and if they start to show their need for some more sleep then you'll find a way to fit that in :)
