£500 govt top up - what months do the 3 monthly periods run?

Tax free childcare give you up to £500 every 3 months - does anyone know if this is e.g. Jan- Mar, Apr-Jun etc etc...

Or, is it relevant to when you first opened your tax free childcare account? So say I opened in Feb, mine would run Feb-May, Jun-Aug etc?

I think it is based on when you opened the Tax Free Childcare account.
